And here’s some great news … statistically, most of our schools raise MORE money during the second half of the FUNraising campaign than they do in the first half!

The midway point is the perfect time for some inspiration and motivation, so mark your calendars for our …

WEEK 6 VICTORIES

  • With 87 winners in the First 100 contest, we still have 13 spots left. If you’re close to raising $3,000, don’t give up! I want to see YOU at the Gala in Beverly Hills!
  • Paul Mitchell The School Honolulu raised $4,200 with their head shaving fireburner, bringing their total to $24,800. Future Professional Advisor/Education Leader Carly Sai said she would shave her head if she raised $2,000 to support Learning Leaders Joy Shimabuku and Windy Kirifi who are battling cancer. Faculty and students collected the first $1,000 in 15 minutes, and the shaving began! Future Professionals and faculty who raised over $100 got to shave school owner Joannie Rossiter’s head, too. Shavers included Mursadeez, a Future Professional in her second day of Core, supervised by Joy, a Learning Leader and breast cancer warrior. Combined with funds raised through Debra Dietrich’s Trending Tour ($9,000), a Learning Leaders class ($4,000), super Service Sunday ($1,000), working at Hawaii Seminar ($3,600), and other successful events, they’re well on their way to their $30,000 goal.
  • Paul Mitchell The School Michigan raised $3,717 with their ONE Event. They broke into groups and gave everyone information about the charities and a helpful script to use over the phone. Staff members led each group and showed them how it was done. They gave raffle tickets for any donation over $50, and celebrated with a donated pizza lunch. The staff got donations and had a competition as well.
  • Rudy and Kelly Academy’s PJ party and raffle-ticket giveaway event for day and night school raised over $1,900 when Future Professionals paid $20 to wear their PJs and watch movies. Their ONE Event was held the same day as the PJ party (in case you’re wondering why some of the people in the photo below are wearing their pajamas)! Other events including Jan Ryan’s airbrush classes, a Princess Party, casual for a cause, exercise class, and student council lunches brought their total to $18,996.
  • I’m sure you’re all wondering what the Utah Corporate Office is cooking up this week! They raised $57 with Soup Day!
  • With only 40 Future Professionals and 8 staff members, Paul Mitchell The School Tulsa has raised $14,339! Their recent ONE Event raised $6,353. Check out their thermometer … Operations Leader Tami Buttry says they left rom at the top of their oil derrick to exceed their goal and spew oil over the top. With a jam-packed calendar for March and April, they’re confident that they’ll be spewing oil all over Tulsa!
  • Paul Mitchell The School Fort Myers has raised $15,505 so far. Their kickoff ONE Event and BBQ brought in $700, and the rest came from weekly lunches, bake sales, jeans day, and shoe day, plus front desk donations, a fashion show, a princess party, and a Benjamin Jay networking class. Their calendar is full and their hopes are high!
  • Our educators and Advanced Academy team members are raising money everywhere! Aubrey Harley’s iTexture class at Bella Capelli raised $2,850, bringing Aubrey’s total to $13,650.

TIP OF THE WEEK

The midway point is a great time to take a good look at your calendar and answer these four questions:

1. Are you planning big events like fashion shows and open houses?
Be sure to use the ideas, timelines, and templates in your Come and Get Them booklet and 2014 FUNraising Idea Book.

2. Have you been notifying your local media about your FUNraising events?
The fact that a group of students nationwide has an incredible goal of raising $2.5 million for charity is big news, so make sure you share it with the press. It’s good for promoting your events and, even more important, for increasing awareness about your school. (Press release templates are on the Hub FUNraising tab.)

3. Are you asking for pledges and donations?
Donations are still a great way to raise money and meet your goal. You only get what you ask for, so ASK! (Donation forms and support materials are on the Hub FUNraising tab.)

4. Are you thinking OUTSIDE your school?
A lot of FUNraisers involve money coming directly from Future Professionals (Casual for a Cause, lunch sales, penny wars, etc.). Please plan that the majority of your activities involve your local community. You’ll bring in money from other sources (not just Future Professionals) and create great buzz about your school. A perfect example would be holding an Advanced Academy or other educational event and selling tickets to local stylists and salons.
