Making magic happen by raising money

and awareness for worthwhile organizations

Hi Everyone!

We’ve reached the midway point in our 2014 FUNraising campaign! Have you shown the Midway Fireburner Webinar in your school? Tabatha Coffey shared an inspiring message, we announced the Top 10 schools at the midway point, and we heard some great FUNraising ideas from several of our schools!

Remember: If you aren’t in the Top 10 right now, or you haven’t reached your goal yet, it’s not too late. We still have five more weeks. This is the 11th year we’ve been doing this, and we know that, historically, more money is raised in the last 30 days than in the previous two months combined. With five weeks left, this is the perfect time to get re-motivated and excited about what your school can do.

If you need some fresh ideas, listen to the Midway Fireburner and all the other fireburners (they’re on the Hub and the Paul Mitchell Schools YouTube channel), grab your Idea Book, and keep reading these weekly updates for victories like the ones below. We also posted the Fireburners, launch video, and special video messages from our partners on the Paul Mitchell Schools YouTube channel, in the 2014 FUNraising Campaign playlist: http://bit.ly/1nIlOt7

WEEK 8 VICTORIES

  • With 93 winners in the First 100 contest, we only have 7 spots left. If you’re getting close, don’t give up! I want to see YOU at the FUNraising Gala in Beverly Hills!
  • This is the first year of FUNraising for one of our newest schools, Paul Mitchell The School Lombard. Their first-ever Princess Party welcomed 30 princesses for an afternoon of games, face-painting, decorating tiaras and picture frames, makeup applications, updos, and a photo shoot. Each little princess took home a printout of her photo in the frame she decorated. The event raised $600, bringing Lombard’s grand total to $6,080.
  • Paul Mitchell The School Jacksonville raised $5,703 with their “Power Hour” ONE Event. Two recent cutting classes with Advanced Academy team member Jason Reyes raised $4,250. Their makeup specialist, Brooke Lee Smith, held a two-day intensive Makeup Honors Boot Camp that raised $475, and three Learning Leaders taught a 4-hour, 3-type extension class that raised $750.
  • Paul Mitchell The School Pasadena staff member Nessa Cao and a team of Future Professionals visited the ELSA Ranch. After learning about ELSA’s Ranch Skills Program, they held a two-hour cut-a-thon for the community, raising $429. They had a super-fun day and now they very much understand what ELSA is all about.
  • Advanced Academy team member Skyler Marsh raised $9,200 in the past TWO WEEKS, with classes at Paul Mitchell The School Springfield, Arkansas, and Overland Park. To help them create a social media buzz, he made each school a 15-second video with class information to share on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It’s not too late to bring an Advanced Academy member to your school. Contact Kacie in the corporate office for details.
  • Vanguard College of Baton Rouge raised $850 when school owner Mark Palermo stopped in to inspire Future Professionals with a motivational message an incredible Italian lunch for $10 a plate. Mark donated the yummy lasagna, cheesy bread, and salad, and paid for the entire staff to enjoy a plate. With three students raising $6,700 for the First 100 contest, and a successful Princess Night that brought in $340, Baton Rouge’s current total is $24,000.

  • Speaking of Princess Parties, Paul Mitchell The School Michigan raised over $500 with their recent princess party. They also raised $450 with their skating party, bringing their total to $21,000.
  • For the fourth year in a row, The Temple, A Paul Mitchell Partner School hosted Debra Dietrich’s Trending Tour class. 16 participants paid $400 to attend, raising over $6,000 toward their $50,000 goal. They raised another $3,500 from candle sales in partnership with a local candle manufacturer.
  • Paul Mitchell The School Las Vegas has raised $23,500, including $3,000 raised by Learning Leader Stanley Nolan for the First 100 contest. An accomplished freelance artist, Stanley used her Circle of Influence to recruit photographers, fashion designers, an accessories designer, makeup artists and a celebrity stylist for her Behind the Lens Photo Shoot. The team included three alumni and one very special guest: Marie Osmond! Her daughter was one of the models, and Marie was there to support. She didn't realize she was coming to an event that was raising money for her charity; she was just there to be “a mom.” Marie graciously posed for photos and tweeted about the event on her social media.

  • Paul Mitchell The School Jersey Shore is on a roll! They raised $1,200 in one hour with their ONE Event; $4,000 from a hands-on cutting class with DJ Muldoon; $700 from Princess and Pirate parties, and $888 from everyone’s favorite – Pie a Team Member in the Face!
  • I’m sure everyone wants to know what’s on the menu at the Utah Corporate Office this week! They raised $53 with their Taco Bar.
  • Rudy and Kelly Academy has raised $26,730 toward their goal of $37,500. Recent events included a ONE Event, ticket sales for Debra Dietrich's upcoming Trending Tour class, student council luncheons ($400 in one week). In their Cheerleading Competition Up Style Event, Future Professionals raised $450 by creating ponytails with lots of curls for cheerleaders before their area competition.
